The sun touched my skin
A warm lovers embrace
Instantly soothing the aches
And chills from the night

Mountains and trees reaching for the skies
Surround me
Like prison walls full of intimidation
Grass and an array of flowers
Cover the land as far as the eye can see

Birds with their songs fly freely
Creatures roam the lands without worry
They do not acknowledge my presence
A feeling too familiar

The sky mirrors the sea
Endless sight of blue

No more pain
No more aches
No more loneliness

Lost in paradise
With no desire to escape

I have been writing poetry since a teenager but did not have the courage to really show it off. It wasn't until I had some tools as I battled depression and mental illness. They are still a part of me, which you will see for yourself. My writing is dark and raw.
